Seeds 4 Success

In 2015, Junior League of Annapolis selected Seeds 4 Success and Read 2 Kids as its two new community partners for a three-year term.

The selection process to pick two new community partners began during the 2014-2015 league year, starting with a community-wide Request for Proposals. A sub-committee reviewed applications from potential community partners and selected five to be presented to league members at its monthly membership meeting. The membership voted by ballot and selected Read 2 Kids and Seeds 4 Success, Inc. as its 2015-2018 project partners.

Focusing on the self-sufficiency of women and children, Junior League of Annapolis takes on two new community partners for three-year terms. During that time, JLA committees work with the partners on projects to meet local community needs and each partner’s mission. Past community partners include Sarah’s House, the Center of Help, Lighthouse Shelter, and Chrysalis House.

The partnership between S4S and JLA will help “expand our Alumnae and College Access program. Junior League members will be an integral part of supporting our high school girls and their families as they move through the college process,” says John Palinski, Executive Director of S4S.

Seeds 4 Success (S4S) began in 2008 as a grassroots, after-school program to create more positive opportunities for youth living in public housing. S4S currently has four programs: Eastport Girls Club, I Am a Reader, Parent Challenge, and The Alumnae and College Access Program, created to prepare and empower 10th-12th grade Eastport Girls Club graduates to attend and successfully complete college.
