RACHEL ANN PRELOH WINS SCHOLARSHIP FOR SCHOLARS

Arundel High School Star Student wins Junior League Scholarship

Annapolis, MD [May 26, 2008] – Junior League of Annapolis, Inc., (JLA) awarded Rachel Ann Preloh of Arundel High School the 2008 Scholarship for Scholars award of $3,000. Rachel ranks first in her class of 482 students with a weighted GPA of 4.5, is a Maryland Distinguished Scholar semifinalist, earned 2080 on the SAT, and has twelve Advanced Placement courses to her credit.

Rachel is also an active participant in a variety of extra-curricular activities including serving as Lieutenant Governor of seven Anne Arundel County Key Clubs, President of the Environmental Club, Community Service Committee Chair of the National Honor Society, and Co-founder and Vice-President of the Croquet, Crochet and Tea Alliance.  She is also a member of the Spanish Honor Society, Peer Helpers, Arundel Players’ Theater Company, International Thespian Society and the Envirothon Team.

Her contributions to the community include weekly hours volunteering at a Baltimore Soup Kitchen, participation in the Appalachia Service Project with her Youth Group and traveling as the People to People Student Ambassador during the summer of 2006.  She has completed over 1,000 hours of volunteer work in her four years of high school. Rachel is attending Boston College in the Fall.
