JUNIOR LEAGUE WINS BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP AWARD

Dory Mondor accepts Anne Arundel Chamber Award

Annapolis, MD [May 19, 2008] –Junior League of Annapolis, Inc., (JLA) won the Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce’s 2008 Business Partnership Award for Junior League of Annapolis, Inc.’s three-year partnership with Marley Elementary School in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Dory Mondor accepted the award on behalf of Junior League of Annapolis, Inc., at the annual Excellence in Education Awards dinner on April 24, 2008.

Joyce Burke, school counselor for Marley Elementary school, nominated Junior League of Annapolis, Inc., for this award to recognize JLA’s work at the school. Junior League of Annapolis, Inc.’s It’s Elementary! Committee has hosted Kids in the Kitchen activities for students to educate children about nutritional choices and how to prepare healthy meals and snacks that are tasty and affordable; hosted teacher luncheons; donated hundreds of back packs filled with annual school supplies for students on the free lunch program; and replenished school supplies throughout the school year.

Marley Elementary is a Title One school with a large share of students on subsidized lunch program, and the school does not have an active Parent Teacher Organization.
