JUNIOR LEAGUE OF ANNAPOLIS, INC. SPONSORS BOOK BAG PROJECT
Junior League of Annapolis, Inc. and Sponsors Support Book Bag Project for Anne Arundel County Public School students

Annapolis, MD – [July 27, 2009] – Junior League of Annapolis, Inc. is accepting donations for the 16th annual Book Bag Project by having a supply drive to collect supplies to fill 1,000 book bags at the Office Depot, located at the Annapolis Harbour Center Saturday, August 8th from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm and Saturday, August 15th from 12:00 noon – 4:00 pm.

Each year, Junior League of Annapolis, Inc., in partnership with Office Depot, donates backpacks filled with school supplies for 1,000 children enrolled in the free lunch program in Anne Arundel County.  This year’s Book Bag Project will benefit children at Harman Elementary, Brock Bridge Elementary, Maryland City Elementary, Tyler Heights Elementary, Georgetown East Elementary, and Marley Elementary schools.

Junior League of Annapolis, Inc. started the Back to School Book Bag Project in 1993 with the intention of leveling the playing field for elementary students in need.  The purpose of the program is to provide children the tools needed to start back to school ready to learn.  Junior League of Annapolis, Inc., with the assistance of grants and donations, acquires and assembles book bags filled with school supplies for disadvantaged children in Anne Arundel County to ensure they start the school year prepared.  Over the past 15 years, with the help of corporate and independent donations, Junior League of Annapolis, Inc. has distributed over 10,000 filled book bags.
