JUNIOR LEAGUE OF ANNAPOLIS, INC. DONATES OVER 1,000 BOOKBAGS FOR ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY SCHOOL CHILDREN
Annapolis, MD [AUGUST 23, 2010] – This August, with the community’s help, Junior League of Annapolis, Inc. (JLA) provided over 1,000 children in Anne Arundel County with bookbags and school supplies for the school year. This summer marks the 17th year JLA provided children in the community with their school supplies for the year.  This year’s bookbags filled with schools supplies were provided to students in need at Hilltop Elementary, Brock Bridge Elementary, Eastport Elementary, Georgetown East Elementary, and Maryland City Elementary schools.

JLA added a new element to this year’s bookbag drive.  By partnering with Borders Book Store at the Annapolis Mall, JLA was able to collect over 550 books for distribution to local schools, including high interest reading materials.  Borders Book Store is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Additional community sponsors for this important program include Rita’s Italian Ice, Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt at Annapolis Towne Centre, Punk’s Backyard Grill at Annapolis Mall, and Balanced Life Skills.
