JLA Partnered With Kmart For A Successful Toy Drive To Benefit Anne Arundel County Foster Children

ANNAPOLIS, MD. – [NOV. 16, 2005]- The Junior League of Annapolis, Inc., held a successful toy drive at the Edgewater Kmart in The Marketplace at South River Colony and the Pasadena Kmart in Jumpers Mall on November 12, 2005.  The League goal was to collect at least 60 toys, one for each child expected to attend a holiday party for Anne Arundel County foster children in December.  Thanks to the charitable managers of the Kmart stores; Mary Brooks, Phyllis Mitchell, Dave Beaddy and the overwhelming generosity of the Kmart shoppers, over 160 toys were collected.  In addition, over $100 in monetary donations were collected.

The toys will be collected, wrapped and distributed by the members of the JLA in cooperation with the Foster Parent Organization of Anne Arundel County.  The holiday party will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2005 at the Rivera Beach Volunteer Fire Company Hall in Pasadena from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

In addition to the distribution of toys, the JLA will organize several craft activities and games for the children at the party.   This party will serve as a highlight during the holiday season for the many children whose holidays may otherwise not come with all of the festivities that other children are accustomed to.
