Junior league cookbook Wins Annual Tabasco Award
“A Thyme to Entertain: Menus & Traditions of Annapolis” is National Standout
Annapolis, MD [February 3, 2008] – Junior League of Annapolis, Inc., (JLA) announces that A Thyme to Entertain: Menus and Traditions of Annapolis cookbook has been named the Third Place National Winner in the 2008 Tabasco Community Cookbook Awards. The award is sponsored by McIlhenney Company, the company that makes Tabasco and other sauces, and was established almost twenty years ago to recognize the role these unique books play in chronicling and preserving local culinary traditions. Junior League of Annapolis will receive a prize of $750 for its third place award for A Thyme to Entertain which was published in October 2007 and has sold over 4,500 copies to date.
A Thyme to Entertain: Menus and Traditions of Annapolis has also been named an official City of Annapolis cookbook by Mayor Ellen O. Moyer and the Annapolis City Council and a Best Books Finalist in the Cookbook General category by USA Book News Awards. A Thyme to Entertain: Menus & Traditions of Annapolis is an elegant coffee table style cookbook highlighting annual events and traditions around the Annapolis area featuring 13 chapters with party menus, 200 recipes, and 40 color photographs.
Proceeds from JLA cookbook sales benefit the ongoing community outreach programs of Junior League of Annapolis, Inc. which include It’s Elementary!, Juvenile Justice, Friends of Foster Care, Children’s Literacy, Community Assistance Donations, and Scholarship for Scholars.
