(ANNAPOLIS, MD) Junior League of Annapolis, Inc. (JLA) has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.  Occurring this year on December 1st, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.), with the widely recognized shopping events of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, to kick-off the holiday giving season by inspiring people to give back to their local communities for the causes they support.

“We must give back to move forward. Giving to the Junior League of Annapolis is more than just making a donation. Giving to JLA is about making an impactful difference in the lives of women and children across the wonderful Anne Arundel County Community. Please join the JLA in spreading kindness, spreading smiles, and sharing happiness on this Giving Tuesday,” says Calandra Layne, JLA President.

All proceeds from #GivingTuesday benefit the community programs of JLA and the organization’s training of its civic leaders.  JLA partners with local nonprofits to create programs in which JLA can be most impactful in providing financial support as well as trained volunteers.  This year, despite the pandemic, JLA continued its commitment to the community with several community projects: COVID-19 Food Project- Feed Anne Arundel, traveling to various school locations participating in Pop-up Food Pantries; partnering with the ACAN, Inc. which hosted a drive -up food pantry and met the needs of several families; and we continue to support with Freedom Village residents in Pasadena with a Thanksgiving Dinner Distribution and a Hat & Glove Drive-Through for residents in Annapolis area.
