JLA TO HOST 2016 FUNDRAISING MASQUERADE BALL

Change in Schedule

(ANNAPOLIS, MD) Junior League of Annapolis, Inc. (JLA) would like to announce some changes to their Masquerade Ball.

As previously announced, the Masquerade Ball was scheduled for Friday, October 7, from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Loews Annapolis Hotel. Due to the immense interest from the public and JLA members to attend this event and to avoid conflicting with The Sailboat Show weekend, the Masquerade Ball will now be held on Friday, November 4, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the same location.

Tickets are now available to purchase for $85 a person and starting Thursday, October 22, ticket prices increase to $95 a person. Cocktail attire is suggested and black tie optional is also acceptable. All attendees must be over 21 years of age.

This festive event will include an evening of dancing, live entertainment, silent and live auctions, and hors d’oeuvre plates from local restaurants such as Metropolitan Kitchen & Lounge and Karen Wilder Events. To purchase tickets, view event updates, and see a complete listing of participating restaurants, visit jlannapolis.org/masquerade-ball/.

All proceeds from the Masquerade Ball benefit the community programs of JLA and the organization’s training of its civic leaders. JLA’s community work and trained volunteers aim to make positive impact in our community by partnering with local nonprofits and creating programs that will make our community stronger. Read 2 Kids is a JLA program that provides disadvantaged children with new books. JLA volunteers work with local organizations to establish Little Free Libraries and organize book drives to restock and distribute age-appropriate books. JLA also plans the annual Reading Day event that encourages family members’ participation and integration of reading aloud to children in their daily routine. In collaboration with Alumnae and College Access (ACA) program, Seeds 4 Success creates positive opportunities for the Eastport Girls Club youth living in public or subsidized housing communities. JLA volunteers meet with the ACA girls during after-school sessions and provide support to help them successfully apply to, prepare for and complete college. These sessions include SAT tutoring, college interview practice and time and management skills as well as networking and social skills.
