Kmart Partners With JLA to Ensure That County Foster Children Have Happy Holidays

ANNAPOLIS, MD. – [NOV. 10, 2005] – The Junior League of Annapolis will hold a toy drive at the Edgewater Kmart in The Marketplace at South River Colony and the Pasadena Kmart in Jumpers Mall on Saturday, November 12, 2005 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  The JLA will hand out flyers to Kmart patrons as they enter the store suggesting toys that can be purchased in the store for children ages 0-6 who will be attending a holiday party for county foster children in December.

The JLA would like to collect at least 60 toys, one for each child expected to attend the party.  We would love to provide more than one toy for each child and will also solicit monetary donations in addition to toys to be able to supplement the donated toys.

The toys will be collected, wrapped and distributed by the members of the JLA in cooperation with the Foster Parent Organization of Anne Arundel County.  The holiday party will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2005 at the Rivera Beach Volunteer Fire Company Hall in Pasadena from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

In addition to the distribution of toys, the JLA will organize several craft activities and games for the children at the party.   This party will serve as a highlight during the holiday season for the many children whose holidays may otherwise not come with all of the festivities that other children are accustomed to.
