JUNIOR LEAGUE OF ANNAPOLIS NAMED IN INNOVATION AWARD

Volunteer Hall of Fame Innovation Award for Harmony House

Annapolis, MD [December 28, 2007] – The Junior League of Annapolis, Inc. was honored as part of the Volunteer Project Hall of Fame Innovation Award by the Volunteer Center For Anne Arundel County in November 2007 for its creation of the “Under the Sea” Room in Harmony House. Harmony House is a supervised family visitation home where Anne Arundel County foster children and their biological families have supervised visits and work toward reunification.

In addition to creating and maintaining the “Under the Sea” room at Harmony House, JLA Friends of Foster Care committee also hosts the annual Jingle Bell Jubilee, which is a grand holiday event for nearly 300 foster children and their foster families. The committee is also currently working with the Department of Social Services to develop an independent/transitional living program for foster teens.
